Sister Pielstick and Farewell at Father's Day

Today was my Farewell talk. 15 days until I leave for Utah. One day before I start work at the most explosive place in town.

I love father's day... And not meaning to offend anyone, but my dad is the best dad in the world. Where would the world be without my austere father who, on occasion, can be seen kiteboarding, surfing, reggaeing, or studying. I know that my father has taught me many of the things that I will be using on Temple Square... his dry sense of humor, his punctuality, his communication skills. He is the reason I collect stories, of all the ones I've collected I still love his the best. (President Monson has a few that take close second though)

He helps me understand how I can be closer to my Heavenly Father. It was his example that finally got me into a steady scripture study habit in high school, and he was the one to help me when I was feeling lost or alone. I am so blessed to be watched over and protected by two amazing individuals like these men. I'm sad that I am leaving one to serve another full time, but I look forward to seeing both in person when I get to the Celestial Kingdom.

Where Sister Pielstick Meets Her Dream Temple

Nauvoo the beautiful.

I have always had a soft spot for the Nauvoo temple. It was the first temple dedication I had ever seen, and the prettiest temple I have ever been in thus far. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the temple this last week. It is not very large, but the building holds not just the strong spirit temples usually have, but it carried an added weight. You could feel the trials and triumphs of the saints who worked so hard to construct the temple. It permeated every wall, every staircase, every picture. It is a Triumph, a blessing, a peace.

Nauvoo is my favorite place in the world, and the one place I really was hoping to serve on a mission. I talked to the sister missionaries there, and found that the sister I was talking to had wanted my mission more than anything. It was fun to give her the rockstar treatment and tell her that she had my dream mission. I made a promise to myself after I talked to her, because she was doing her best at her mission I would do the best at mine.

(And as she talked about the cool stuff she wanted to see I realized that now I really want to see the tabernacle organ again)

FYI

I have been belated in my posts because I have forgotten to put them on... oops. I'll be putting on the old posts until I am up to date on them. When I get to the MTC I'll have mother dearest post selections from my mission updates here.

Sorry for all the confusion.
